Danny stared at the small black and white photograph of his grandparents. His grandmother had never tired of telling the story of their meet-cute and love at first sight.

Even beyond 40, Danny was secretly still hoping he'd find that kind of love one day. After Patrick's disappearance he'd always had trouble maintaining a relationship. After a while, his partners always complained that he wasn't in it with his whole heart and that there was a ghost in their relationship.

His mind wandered to the man who had recently caught his eye. As a soldier, he probably had his own ghosts. He was still young – probably too young for Danny – but it was clear they'd both lived through a lot. He had certainly sparked an interest in Danny that he hadn't felt for in a long time. And not just because he was almost too handsome to be true.
