Lyle cracked one eye open and was greeted with a happy bark before Marcus continued to lick his face. The poking in his stomach would be Kay and Alex then. Hell, when had he fallen asleep? They’d played in the garden and he’d just sat down for a minute… Lyle carefully grabbed Marcus and sat up straight.

The laundry the captains had left on the drying rack was strewn across the lawn and no longer exactly clean. He heard the front door close, followed by footsteps. Oh crap.
