Hey folks,
Here are some pics and vids from my lovely trip to Heidelberg. It’s a gorgeous city that has it all. Beautiful historical landmarks, a nice city center with shopping opportunities, culture and arts, and a laid back feel because of the big number of students in town. I love coming there again and again.
The highlight this time was the illumination event Heidelberger Zoo Leuchten that absolutely blew my mind and beamed me right into a parallel universe. Sadly, I had to return after a couple of hours 😉 not posting any of my pics because otherwise you‘ll still be scrolling down here by New Year‘s 🤪
Second part of the trip was a stop at Technik Museum Sinsheim. If you’re a gearhead and engineering nerd you can probably spend days there it’s so big. I‘ll stick to some photos of the military exhibition and a few curiosities so that I don’t keep you too long 😅
Starting easy, here’s some military lighting thing that impressed me with its size.

Did you know pocket motorcycles for paratroopers were a thing? I had no idea.

Broken tank, a bit scary to think what happened to it and the people inside…

Tank for training observation

One of the highlights! Drive a tank for 2€ 😉
Some weaponry and missile systems… the first can handle nuclear weapons, too 😱

That’s the kind of medical equipment Ditzy would have needed to make do with in the field back in the day *shudders*

And a bonus: Elvis Presley commandeered one of those during his time in Germany

Here are a few other cool exhibits. Let’s start with things I only know from documentaries, if at all 😅

(Yep, you read that right. That blue thing goes over 1,000 km/h…)
And a few Formula 1 cars. These are ones Michael Schuhmacher and Sebastian Vettel drove. (None of Max‘s cars, nietie if you read this. I checked especially for you 😉)

And last but not least… Doc Brown is in the house 😉

Hope you enjoyed the virtual tour with me. Do you have a favorite?
