The annual Christmas ball at the Minister’s country estate was one of the few occasions that made Ryan question his decision to request a permanent deployment to the ARC. This year more than ever.

“Winter is coming, boss,” Lyle stated cheerfully. 

Ryan looked up into the sky and almost groaned at the sight of the first snowflakes falling.

By the time they would have dealt with all the dinosaurs currently taking a walk around Green Park, they’d all be frozen solid. There was no way of putting on enough clothes to stay warm and yet be able to properly move. Ryan hated winter.

Ryan lay on their couch, his head resting in Lester’s lap. He watched the flames dancing in the fireplace, and Lester gently stroked his hair. Ryan sighed contentedly. He loved winter.
